BfA - Heart of Azeroth

BfA is here and on log in you will receive the quest Dying World if you have completed the Battle of Lorderon scenario.

Q - A Dying World - Take portal to Uldum to get closer to Silithus (optional).
Magni "Azeroth be dyin' while the armies of the Horde and Alliance be fightin' over a ruined city.  She needs yer help.  Azeroth's got somethin' tae give ye."
To get to Silithus I used my ring of the Kirin Tor to get to old Dalaran and then took the portal to the Caverns of Time.  I then flew on the nearest flight path to Marshal's Stand, Un'Goro Crater and used a flying mount to fly into Silithus.  You can also, as suggested in the quest, take the portal to Uldum and use a flying mount from there.
Magni "You made it,  no time to lose. "
Azeroth is in pain.  Sargeras's sword cut deep.  Below is the ancient titan vault, the Chamber of Heart, Magni senses that Azeroth wishes to speak with you there.
The Heart of Azeroth - Travel to the Chamber of Heart and commune with Azeroth.
Follow Magni to the Chamber.  There is a triangular portal to get inside.
Magni "Ach!  This chamber is in ruins, it won't hold together for long."
Me "What does Azeroth want with me, Magni?"
Magni "Azeroth calls tae ye, champion.  She offers a gift... one born of her own essence.  The very Heart of Azeroth!  Infuse this amulet with power... It might be the only way tao save her!"
You receive the Heart of Azeroth and the achievement Have a Heart.

Magni "The seal on this chamber protects the world's soul.  But with all this Azerite  burstin' through, the seal is close tae shatterin'!  If ye use yer amulet tae absorb the Azerite, its power should mend the chamber's seal!"

Q Infusing the Heart - Absorb Azerite to empower the Heart of Azeroth.  Use the Heart of Azeroth to mend the seal.
You get an extra action button, click it near each shard of Azerite round the room.  Then go into the middle of the room and click the extra action button again to use the Heart of Azeroth to mend the seal.
Absorbing the Azerite
Mending the seal
Magni "That's it!  I think it's workin'!  Keep goin'!  Just a wee bit more..."  "Ye did it champion!  The chamber is secure."
You get to choose your first piece of Azerite armor either a chest piece, shoulders or a head piece.

Magni "Even using a fraction of its power the Heart of Azeroth brought stability tae this place.  No matter what happens in their war, our world must be saved."

This is where the quest chain is slightly different for Horde and Alliance.
Horde FU Q The Speaker's Imperative - Speak to Nathanos Blightcaller in Orgrimmar.  Use the teleportation pad at the chamber entrance to take you back to Orgrimmar, where you speak to Nathanos on the top of the Gates of Orgrimmar.  He says that you were lucky to be in the right place at the right time, that the heart of Azeroth may prove useful, but now the focus must be the war.  The Alliance will stop at nothing to destroy the Horde, the Dark Lady has a plan to make us stronger.
See upcoming post (Welcome to Zandalar)

Alliance - FU Q The Speakers Imperative - return to Stormwind City.
Use the teleportation pad at the entrance of the Chamber of Heart which will return you to Stormwind, where you should speak with Halford Wyrmbane at the Stormwind Harbor.  He tells you of the Hordes attack on Stormwind, King Anduin has asked you to meet him at Stormwind Keep.

BfA - First New Pet: Poda

Having played BfA for a couple of days the first Zandalar zone I chose to quest in was Vol'dun.  Just outside the Vulpera Hideaway you will find Vivi who gives you a quest.

Vivi is standing with her pet polecat Coda.  She had discovered Coda out cold after being stung by a wasp and she used the sandstinger remedy to revive him.  But, some of his friends are missing.

Q Missing Business - Rescue 7 Sable Polecats, you get Sandstinger Remedy to use.  The missing polecats are in The Prickly Grove.

Use the sandstinger remedy on them to revive them and they will run back to Vivi.  Once you have rescued 7 return to Vivi.
"Oh thank goodness!  We'll have to keep these little guys away from anything with a big mean stinger out here.  Man, I'm going to be busy.  If you could protect Coda's little brother, that would help us out a lot!"
"This is Poda.  Thank you and please give Poda lots of snuggles!"
Poda is the first new battle pet I have got in BfA but he is not rare so I will need to use a token to upgrade him.

New Pet: Silithus War tank

After the changes to Silithus due to the impact of Sargeras' sword, Blade of Sargeras, embedded in its centre, the Silithid hives have all but been destroyed.  However, some Silithid have survived.  At each hive there is a rare which spawns.  The spawn timer for these is not very long but you can only kill them once each per day per character.

The rares are located in the following places on the map.
Hive'Ashi (north east) - Qroshekx, Hive'Regal (south) - Ssinkrix, Hive'Zora (west) - Xaarshej.

These rares have a chance to drop the battle pet, Silithid Mini-Tank. I was lucky and managed to drop the pet on only my fifth kill.

Happy hunting!

DK Mage Tower - Done!

The Mage Tower was a challenging quest for each spec which rewards a unique weapon.  It is located on The Broken Shore at Deliverance Point and initially was only up when enough Legionfall War Supplies has been turned in to spawn it.  It would then remain active for 3 days before being destroyed and needing to be rebuilt.  As the Mage Tower challenges, and therefore the unique weapon skins, were to be removed in the pre-patch, the Mage Tower was made continuously active for the two weeks prior to the pre-patch so people could try to get them before they are gone. With the ever increasing artifact power this also became a little easier as you become more powerful each day.

To start the challenges you needed to have completed the initial story line on the Broken Shore and have done the quest to unlock your upgraded artifact weapon.  Speak to War Councilor Victoria who stands outside the tower and she will offer the quest.  The first attempt each day is free and after that each attempt costs 100 Nethershards.

For the DK there were three challenges, one for each spec.  The first one I achieved was Unholy, then Frost and on the very last day, finally Blood.  For completing your first challenge you get the achievement A Challenging Look - Complete an artifact challenge quest line and unlock a new appearance for your artifact weapon.

And for completing all challenges on your character you get the achievement Fighting with Style: Challenging - Unlock all of your challenging artifact appearances.

Violet Spellwing (mount)

I have finally got the Violet Spellwing thanks to a Twitch Streamer called Killakris TV who is helping lots of people get this mount and not asking for ridiculous high i-level, huge amounts of gold or the Ahead of the Curve achievement, just that people are patient and polite.  Thank you so much dude, it is great what you are doing to help people.  I must admit my DPS was dire during this kill although my tactics were good, I wasn't wiping people and I was interrupting.

The Violet Spellwing is a reward for killing the final raid boss in the Legion expansion, Argus the Unmaker, on heroic level.  Once he is defeated a trickle of his blood will congeal into a flawless gemstone which you must take to Khadgar in The Violet Citadel in Dalaran.  This starts the quest Blood of a Titan - Bring the blood of Argus the Unmaker to Khadgar in Dalaran, which rewards the mount.

Khadgar "The Legion is defeated, its master imprisoned, but in his final spiteful act, Sargeras may have doomed us all.  This mere drop of Argus' blood surges with incredible power.  The might of a titan.  Our world is wounded champion.  Its life essence seeps out into the sands... just as Magni foresaw.  If the blood of Azeroth also proves to be a source of such strength... those who seek to rule this world will stop at nothing to possess it.  The days ahead may be dark indeed.  For now... go to Silithus.  Gaze upon the wound of the world with your own eyes.  We will find a way to save Azeroth, I know it."

This is the end of the Legion story but then leads to the questline in Silithus  (See post Silithus: Artifact Power at max) and onto the Battle for Azeroth.

The Vilolet Spellwing mount will only be available until BfA is launched on 14th August.  Up until the launch of the pre-patch, killing this boss on heroic level also rewarded the Ahead of the Curve: Argus the Unmaker achievement, which is no longer available.  But, the mount still is for a few more weeks, so try and get it if you can.

Thanks again to Killakris TV.
