Legion: Archaeology

In the first few days of the expansion while leveling I was easily distracted by the many things there are to do in the world including professions.
Coming across a dig site in Highmountain I decided to dig.
With my first fragments I also dug up the Excavator's Notebook which on use allows an archaeologist to find artifact fragments and complete artifacts up to a maximum potential skill of 800.

Also new for legion, or I never noticed it before, when you dig and the telescope shows you the direction, and how far away from the fragments you are (red, yellow or green), now when you reach the actual place to dig up the fragments a glowing shovel will appear.
This reduced the need for more digging as you get closer to see if you are there yet and definitely makes archaeology better.  Even with this you need to dig a lot.  There seems to be a lot more items in legion that need around 100 fragments (or more) then previously expansions where most common items needs only 40-50 fragments.

Dig sites will only be available in one zone in legion at a time with the zone changing every two weeks.  There will also be a quest available every two weeks which leads to one of the rare items.  The quest is available from Dariness the Learned (Archeology Trainer) in Things of the Past shop in the Magus Commerce Exchange in Dalaran.
The legion archaeology achievements include:
Legion Archaeologist - Obtain 800 skill points in archaeology.
Surveying the Land - Obtain one of the rare archaeological finds. (includes follow up)
Getting your Hands Dirty - Complete 50 Legion dig sites. (includes follow up)
Handle With Care - Restore one of each of the common Legion artifacts.
Legion Curator - Restore and display pristine versions of all Legion artifacts.
The Dwarven Dream - Help Brann find all the pieces for his titan relic.

Happy digging :)
