How to get to Tol Dagor

Tol Dagor is one of the dungeons from the Battle for Azeroth expansion located in Tiragarde Sound in Kul Tiras.  It is located out to sea, off the east coast and the entrance is not completely obvious from the map.

By standing on the coast (89:51), looking out to sea you can see the island and the Tol Dagor prison which is the location of the dungeon.

If you fly towards the island in a straight line across the sea you will get there without getting fatigue.  The entrance to the dungeon is located at the base of the big tower.  There is also a flight master there which you can get to fly straight there in the future.

Good luck with the dungeon and I hope this helps anyone who had, like me, totally forgotten how to find the entrance.

How Many Pet Charms? 10k?

The new Shadowlands patch, 9.1, is now on the PTR and we have a list of some new battle pets which will be coming in that patch.  There are 45 listed so far in the journal and the most notable of these is the Flawless Amethyst Baubleworm which is listed as costing 10,000 Polished Pet Charms.  That is A LOT!  I am sure I have never even collected that many in total before.  The pet looks quite cool but my goodness it costs a lot, and it's not even unique.  There are three other Baubleworms listed, Turquoise Baubleworm, Topaz Baubleworm and Ruby Baubleworm.  These three pets are listed as costing three different grey items each, which some people have commented will mean they have to turn off their automatic junk selling addons :)  All four Baubleworms will be sold by a vendor in Oribos.

In preparation, I thought I would try and get the 10,000 pet charms before patch 9.1 arrives.  You can get the pet charms from Shadowlands pet world quests, Shadowlands command table, BFA pet world quests and the BFA mission table.  I didn't think that you could do the world quests on multiple characters but looking at it again today you can, although some of my alts do not seem to have them unlocked in BFA and only three are levelled for Shadowlands.  I will not be able to do every quest every day but time allowing, lets see how long it takes.

I will also have a look at the grey items required for the other three baubleworms and see if can also acquire them.  They are:

In other pet related news for patch 9.1 the limit to the number of pets you can have is to be removed. You can still only have three of each pet, still annoying when there are four different colours of the  OOX-35/MG mechanical chicken from Mechagon, but the total number of pets will have no limit up from a maximum of 2000 at the moment.  However it does not look like we will get any refunds for the pet portals that we have already purchased which previously increased the total number of pets allowed, first up to 1500 and then to 2000, and those cost 1000 pet charms each.  Come on Blizzard a refund would be nice and would help towards the 10,000 needed for the new pet, come on...please!

Good luck if you are also going for this and I will keep you updated with how I am getting on.  Happy pet charm collecting.

Snapback Scuttler part 1

I decided to start working towards the Snapback Scuttler mount.  This is the awesome crab mount that is a reward for completing the Nazjatar meta achievement Undersea Usurper in BFA.  This is a very long achievement and has many parts.

Undersea Usurper - Complete the Nazjatar Achievements listed below

So far I have completed 6 achievements but still have many more to complete to get the mount.
I have only played in Nazjatar in order to get reputation for Pathfinder Part II, back then without flying it was a nightmare to navigate and I only did the bare minimum required.  The zone looks great and once you can fly, getting around is a lot better, although there are still times where I couldn't work out where to find something as it was maybe in a cave or on another layer of the scenery.

Nazjatar
There are a large number of rares with many pet/toy drops which don't seem to drop much for me, although I haven't been killing them that regularly so maybe they would if I put a little more effort in.

The six achievements I have done so far are:
Explore Nazjatar - to explore the zone.
The Unshackled - earn exhalted with the Unshackled.
Unfathomable - complete the Nazjatar storyline.
Subaquatic Support - complete 30 requisition or bounty daily quests in Nazjatar (most of the dailies are these so its not hard to complete although one of them to collect of of about 8 different items is a little annoying so I often skipped it)
Mrrl's Secret Stash - obtain one of Mrrl's Secret Stash.
Terror of the Tadpoles - shoo away 100 Bloodfin Tadpoles in Nazjatar.

Time to keep working on this.  Some of the achievements just take time and some will take a little more work.

PVP noob to PVP not quite such a noob

I am terrible at PVP, always have been.  I think I am just a bit too slow to keep up with all the jumping about and what's going on, but recently, me and a friend decided to try out a bit of arena 2v2, just for something to do as it is near the end of the expansion.
I have run a few arenas before with another good PVP friend where he basically carried me describing me as "like butter", which is definitely not a compliment when it comes to PVP :)  But I have never played for any extended time as I was so bad!

However this time, with our unholy DK, holy paladin combo, we did ok.  We actually got a few wins and some ranking points.  We got up to 1350 and then it started to go wrong.  We'd play an evening and win a few matches and lose a few matches and end up to within 20 points of our start rating for the day. We even got up to 1399 one time before falling back down again to around 1350.

Until...  after a little break we went for it again, and in one night soared past the Combatant achievement rating of 1400.
We now believed we could even get a bit higher, maybe even make it to a 1600 rating.  A few days later we made it to 1550 but 1600 still felt a long way off.
But then we did it :)  Just two weeks later we achieved our goal and we got the Challenger title.
In these few weeks I also got a few other achievements, here are a couple.
Most of this honor was from Legion PVP World Quests while doing almost no actual PVP

Our next challenge is up try and get the PVP mount, Vicious White Bonesteed.  This is rewarded after winning arena matches with a rating above 1400.  So far we are at 61% but the end is looming. The PVP season ends with the prepatch for Shadowlands and that is coming on 13th October.

It has been fun, PVP Shadowlands here we come :)

The Perfect Transmog

Having got the Vestments of the Eternal Traveler, from the Shadowlands preorder, me and a guildy were trying to find the perfect transmog weapon to go with it.  At first as a DK I used the Gravewalker's Runeblade, a 2H sword which looks pretty good especially with added Winter's Grasp enchantment, but then we found it, the perfect weapon.

Gravewalker's Runeblade (with Winter's grasp enchantment)
From Argus the Unmaker the last boss in the final raid of the Legion Expansion,  (Antorus, the Burning Throne) you can get the weapon he uses in the fight, the Scythe of the Unmaker.  This is blue, gold and shiny, and matches perfectly with the Vestments of the Eternal Traveler.

And it looks really really nice!!

As an added bonus I also dropped the mount from that raid Antoran Charhound, while we were farming.  This is a flying felstalker that had been imbued with shadow and flame by Sargaras.

BfA Mage Portal Trainer

I have started to level my mage from 110 to 120 and on arriving in Dazar'alor in Zuldazar,  I decided to look and see if you can learn to teleport here to The Great Seal and also to create a portal.  In The Great Seal opposite the Bank is the portal room and there you will find Chief Telemancer Oculeth the Portal Trainer (67:73).
Speak to him and he will teach you any portals you do not already know including Portal: Dazar'alor and Teleport: Dazar'alor.  This will be very useful for my mage in getting around the new zones.

I do not have an alliance mage character but if you do the Portal Trainer, Yvia Wavebound, is also located in the portal room Sanctum of the Sages, in Boralus, Kul Tiras (71:16).

Nice Mount Day from Islands

As of patch 8.3 you can now purchase loot boxes for the Island Expeditions.  Each week Captain Kitt (for Horde), who is located near the Island Expedition table in the Port of Zandalar, has some boxes for sale for the cost of 50-175 Seafarer's Dubloons.  For Alliance the boxes are sold by Captain Nightrunner (66,32) in Boralus.

This lucky week the boxes available were:
Crestfall Salvage (175 Dubloons)
Jorundall Salvage (175 Dubloons)
Verdant Wilds Salvage (120 Dubloons)

I had some Dublooms saved up so I bought a few boxes.  The boxes can contain pets, mounts and transmog rewards which usually drop from the islands.  From my first box, Crestfall Salvage, I got four items Old Jon's Left Hand (Fist Weapon), Plundered Pirate Admiral's Bicorne (transmog), Leatherwing Screecher (pet) and 2x Island Flosam (rep tokens)

Old Jon's Left Hand
Leatherwing Screecher (pet) and Plundered Pirate Admiral's Bicorne (transmog)
From my second box, also Crestfall Salvage, I got three items, Squawks (mount), Azeroth's Tear (rep token) and Black Tooth Grunt's Pauldrons (transmog)
Squawks (mount) "Guess why he's called that?  It's not because he's a nice quiet pet."
From my third box, Verdant Wilds Salvage Box, I got three leather transmog items, Spiritbough Crown, Spiritbough Grasps and Feralbark Shoulders.

Also whilst running a few islands with my friends I got Surf Jelly.  Initially when I saw this drop I thought it was a pet and didn't really look at it until later when I checked my bags and realised it was a mount.  This is a mount that only works in water.  If you jump near the surface it will despawn which is a little annoying however, you can use it in Nazjatar.
Surf Jelly (mount) "The time between being stung and being enveloped and devoured is short enough to consider not swimming in the Great Sea."
Good luck if you open any boxes and good luck with island runs.  Mounts seem to be quite rare.  These were the only ones I have got from all my previous runs.

BfA Pet Battles: Crawg in the Bog

This pet battle is located in Nazmir, The Fallen Outpost (46:73) on Zuldazar.  Completing this battle is part of the achievement Battle on Zandalar and Kul Tiras, but it is not part of the Family Battler achievements

WQ – Crawg in the Bog - defeat Bloodtusk.
In this World Quest you need to defeat Bloodtusk, a beast pet who is good against elemental and poor against magic.  Bloodtusk has a special buff, Evolution - Bloodtusk will heal to full and gain 50% speed and 25% power if it kills an enemy.  He also has only one attack,  Evolving Bite which bites deeply into the enemy dealing 44 - 74 aquatic damage but damage increases each time it is used.

The team I used for this is:
          Zephyrian Prince (1,1,2)
          Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (1,2,2)
Cinder Kitten (1,2,1) but not required.

Battle: Start with Zephyrian Prince and use (3) Call Lightning followed by (2) Howling Blast and then (1) Wild Winds.  Then to stop him from being defeated swap to Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling.  Next use (3) Decoy and then (2) Thunderbolt followed by (1) Burn repeated until Bloodtusk is down.  The third pet is not required but maybe have one with a block just in case.

Zephyrian Prince drops from Al’Akir in Throne of the Four Winds and the Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling is from Pandaria Engineering.  Both these pets can be bought and sold on the auction house.

I checked out Wowhead and there were quite a few comments for defeating Bloodtusk and a battle using just the Iron Starlette (1,1,2) with Wind-Up, Supercharge and then Wind-Up again for an easy win.  Iron Starlette is a pet you get from a quest in the Blasted Lands at level 90+.  The quest is Report to the King for Alliance and Warning the Warchief for the Horde.

Getting The Frightened Kodo

I came to WOW today to find there was a slight issue with the servers, "world server down, world server down", and it was taking a while to log in.  Initially I logged in my bank character to check for any Auction House sales and it was extremely quiet in Orgrimnar much quieter than normal.  But then I had a thought!  When the server resets often the rare spawns reset.  I've tried this before with no luck but thought I would give it a go.

So log on Blackandblue, he is currently in Dazar'alor but unfortunately horde do not have control of Darkshore so off to Orgrimmar I go and then the flight path to Zoram'gar Outpost in Ashenvale, before mounting up and flying north into Darkshore and the location of sightings of the Frightened Kodo.  I started to fly around and then decided to check out Wowhead and found a macro to target the kodo.  As soon as I created it I was flying at (41,53) and clicking the new macro when Boom!  The screen flashed and there he was.  My heart started pounding and I flew down to him as fast as I could hoping to get there before anyone else.
The Frightened Kodo nuzzled my hand, it wanted to come with me, so I clicked on it and the mount was mine.  Another player did arrive just after I got it but he was nice and congratulated me.
So my advice is don't give up!  You can get this mount, it really does exist!

First Arcanist Thalyssra "We have come on behalf of the Horde.  I am Thalyssra, and this is Rokhan."
There is a shout from Mage-Commander Lyra "Lock it down!"  A nullification field appears silencing all spells you can't escape.  Zul the Prophet shows the way you must escape on foot, at the end room you face the Alliance Commander.

Lady Jaina Proudmoore "I have known the Horde to be cruel and heartless.  Ruthless in its pursuit of victory,  but this... this is folly.  You will die here, and an unmarked grave will be all you have to show for it."
Genn Greymane "Look at them flee, tails between their legs!"
First Arcanist Thalyssra "We cannot fight her.  Run!"
Zul the prophet sets a fire, continue to the harbor and meet up with Nathanos Blightcaller
Nathanos Blightcaller "Well this is a fine mess we're in."

Nathanos Blightcaller "Watch your step.  It seems the Alliance's consummate diplomat will not be taking prisoners this time."
Lady Jaina Proudmoore "That is far enough!"
Jaina puts an ice barrier to block your escape, break it down.
Lady Jaine Proudmoore "You will not harm another soul in this city!  Die, Horde scum!"
Princess Talanji creates a defensive barrier.

Nathanos Blightcaller "No... but I think I know why.  Look."
Lady Jaine Proudmoore is infront of you blocking the way to the boat.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore "You have slain many innocents to get this far.  But your little jailbreak is over.  Surrender, and I will return you to the Stockades where you belong.  There, you will await the king's justice."
Nathanos Blightcaller "Respectfully, we have a boat to catch."
During the escape Zul the Prophet had been setting many fires.  He tells Jaina that although she could beat them should she not be helping save Stormwind.
Lady Jaine Proudmoore "This is not over."
You can board the ship.

Stage 10 - Fate’s Cold Logic - Escape Stormwind harbor on Talanji's Ship,  A discussion is had about where to go.  Nathanos wants to return to the Warchief in Orgrimmar but Princess Talanji disagrees.
Princess Talanji "Regardless of what your warchief wants I must return to my people.  We are going to Zuldazar, as dis is my ship and dis is your only way out of Stormwind, Do you have a problem with dat?"
Me "Not at all"
The Alliance begin chasing the ship but Princess Talanji summons a large dinosaur who boosts the Zandalari ship away and they arrive at the fleet who had destroy most of the Alliance.
We have arrived at Zandalar!

Mail Muncher Mount

The Mail Muncher is a new mount which is available from Horrific Visions.  In both the Vision of Orgrimmar and the Vision of Stormwind there is a chance to summon the Mail Muncher by clicking on mail boxes.  There is one mailbox per zone so there are five available for a full clear of a vision.

Clicking a mailbox will summon a mob which is either an Angry Mailemental or there is thought to be a 1-5% chance of it being the Mail Muncher.  Both mobs are fairly easy to defeat.  If you spawn the Mail Muncher the mount is 100% drop.

In the Vision of Orgrimmar the first mail box is outside the auction house.  It took me a while to find it as it is fallen over.  I have not completed all the other zones but there are pictures on WowHead which show where the mail boxes are in both the Vision of Orgrimmar and Vision of Stormwind.  I was very lucky and spawned the Mail Muncher on the second attempt as some people have said it took the 70+ tries.
So while doing vision make sure you click on those mail boxes and the mount will be yours.

Check out my YouTube video (How I got the Mail Muncher Mount)

New Helm with Tentacles

Today I got a new helm with tentacles.  The helm is called Malignant Leviathan's Headguard and it looks like this:

I just wanted to post a picture because it looks funny.  When I move the tentacles jiggle about.  I'm not sure if I am going to keep this look but it would be nice to get the whole set.

Let me know what you think of some of the new gear in patch 8.3.  It has many tentacles and many eyes.  I think it looks cool and also quite funny :)

First Mount from 8.3 Assaults

Patch 8.3 saw the start of Visions of N'Zoth assaults in Azeroth by minions of N'Zoth.  These assaults are located in Uldum and Vale of Eternal Blossoms.  There are three types of invasion in each zone and each has a different type of mob to fight.  The mobs include some rare mobs but there are not as many cosmetic items to collect as in precious similar event such as the warfronts.

Saying that, there are 7 mounts available to collect from rares, and I was lucky to get Clutch of Ha-Li from my first kill.

The rares are:
Uldum
1- Rotfeather (Amathlet Invasions) - Waste Marauder
2- Corpse Eater (Aqir Invasion) - Malevolent Drone
3- Ishak of the Four Winds (Black Empire Invasion) - Drake of the Four Winds

Vale of Eternal Blossoms
1- Anh-De the Loyal (Mogu Invasion) - Xinlao
2- Ha-Li (Mogu Invasion) - Clutch of Ha-Li
3- Houndlord Ren (Mogu Invasion) - Ren's Stalwart Hound
4- Rei Lun (Mogu Invasion) - Rajani Warserpent (rewarded from drop of Pristine Cloud Serpent Scale)

Clutch of Ha-Li (mount) "The brood of Ha-Li are comfortable in the blue skies of Pandaria, hunting unsuspecting prey."
Good Luck!!

Mechagon: Scrappy's Best Friend

Around Rustbolt in Mechagon you will sometimes see a small robot dog collapsed on the ground.  This is Scrappy and there is an achievement relating to him,
Scrappy's Best Friend - Revive Scrappy in Rustbolt and feed him a Mechano-Treat.

The Mechano-Treat is a tasty treat that small robots might enjoy and can be made by Pascal-K1N6 once you have uploaded the blueprint into his database.  This blueprint I got from Bonepicker, but it also drops from The Scrap King, Ol' Big Tusk and Gorged Gear-Cruncher.  It costs 100 spare parts to make 5 treats which are soulbound so you unfortunately cannot buy or sell them on the auction house.  There are no comments about these having any effect on other pets and I tried feeding them to some of my mechanical battle pets but it just said invalid target.

To complete the achievement Scrappy's Best Friend you need to find Scrappy, collapsed on the floor around Rustbolt.
Use 1 Energy Cell to revive Scrappy who will jump up, bark happily and nuzzle your leg.  Then feed him a Mechano-Treat and you will get the achievement.

First views of Nazjatar and Mechagon

A month has passed since the launch of patch 8.2 and the arrival of the new zones Nazjatar and Mechagon, and this is now where I spend most of my time.  Although if you are not a big raider it is worth doing the emissaries in Zandalar and Kul Tiras because the gear drops now have a base level of 415 which for me is an upgrade in some slots (ilevel of emissarys may be different based on your own ilevel I'm not sure).

In order to get flying you need to have completed the achievement Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part One and the new achievement Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part Two.  This includes exploring Nazjatar and Mechagon and becoming revered with the factions Rustbolt Resistance on Mechagon and in Nazjatar The Unshackled  (Horde) or Waveblade Ankoan (Alliance).
View of Rustbolt from the boat, The Greasy Eel
I really enjoyed Mechagon and found getting the reputation not to bad.  The zone is relatively small and easy to get around.  There are many daily quests and people are always shouting out for rares and construction projects.
In contrast I found Nazjatar frustrating.  The zone is beautiful but getting around it is difficult without flying with many levels, winding up, around and between tall rock formations and down into underground caves.  The quests are time consuming and until you know the zone hard to locate.  Particularly the very first quest I picked up Q - Requisition: We Need It All, where you need to, instead of collect 15 of something collect 1 of many things.  This has got easier as I learnt the area and got flight points but initially the dailies were so time consuming I decided to do Nazjatar and Mechagon on alternate days putting me a little behind everyone else.

First Pet Drops
Both zones have many rare spawns and these drop many vanity items including mounts, pets, toys and zone specific items, such as blueprints in Mechagon for Junkyard Tinkering.

First up Nazjatar.  Deep inside the Darkwater Cavern in the south of the zone is Blindlight (37:82) the Necrofin Chieftain.  He dropped the pet Necrofin Tadpole which is a humanoid pet and is really cute with a yellow fin and glowing green eyes.

Then to Mechagon.  Bonepicker (65:23) is a rare that can be found in a cave, Sourback Hideout near the Heaps.

He drops the pet Bonebiter which is an dragonkin pet and is also really cute.  Many of the new battle pet models look really nice.  I discovered quite by accident that there are at least two colours for Bonebiter.  The first one I got was orange but after killing him a few more times I also dropped another and this time he was yellow.

This made me think there may be multiple colours of other pet drops too, let me know in the comments if you come across any and also what were your thoughts of Mechagon and Nazjatar initially and if your views have changed now its a few weeks on.  Happy pet hunting.
