First Dragonflight Twitch drop

The first Dragonflight Twitch drop became available on 15th November at 11pm (for UK) and you were only able to claim it until 19th November at 12:59am.  The drop is a previous Trading Card Game battle pet, the Dragon Kite.

In order to claim Twitch drops you must first link your battle net account and your twitch account.  Log in on battle.net and on the Account Settings page, pick Connections from the list on the left,  This takes you to a list of your connected accounts including Twitch.6

To be awarded the pet you need to watch 4 hours of WOW content on Twitch.  Provided the streamer has twitch drops enabled, watching their channel will count towards the pet.  You do not need to watch the same channel for the whole 4 hours.  You can check your progress by clicking in your profile in the top right corner and then Drops  Rewards from about half way down the drop down list.  When you get to 100% click claim and the pet will appear in your pet journal in game.

The Dragon Kite is a dragonkin pet with the abilities Breath, Call Lightning, Volcano, Tail Sweep, Roar and Lift Off.  It is unusual because this pet is like an actual kite and it will be attached to you by a string when you summon it.

It also has a few different colours which it can spawn as, including green, purple, red/blue and blue/gold.

How Many Pet Charms? 10k?

The new Shadowlands patch, 9.1, is now on the PTR and we have a list of some new battle pets which will be coming in that patch.  There are 45 listed so far in the journal and the most notable of these is the Flawless Amethyst Baubleworm which is listed as costing 10,000 Polished Pet Charms.  That is A LOT!  I am sure I have never even collected that many in total before.  The pet looks quite cool but my goodness it costs a lot, and it's not even unique.  There are three other Baubleworms listed, Turquoise Baubleworm, Topaz Baubleworm and Ruby Baubleworm.  These three pets are listed as costing three different grey items each, which some people have commented will mean they have to turn off their automatic junk selling addons :)  All four Baubleworms will be sold by a vendor in Oribos.

In preparation, I thought I would try and get the 10,000 pet charms before patch 9.1 arrives.  You can get the pet charms from Shadowlands pet world quests, Shadowlands command table, BFA pet world quests and the BFA mission table.  I didn't think that you could do the world quests on multiple characters but looking at it again today you can, although some of my alts do not seem to have them unlocked in BFA and only three are levelled for Shadowlands.  I will not be able to do every quest every day but time allowing, lets see how long it takes.

I will also have a look at the grey items required for the other three baubleworms and see if can also acquire them.  They are:

In other pet related news for patch 9.1 the limit to the number of pets you can have is to be removed. You can still only have three of each pet, still annoying when there are four different colours of the  OOX-35/MG mechanical chicken from Mechagon, but the total number of pets will have no limit up from a maximum of 2000 at the moment.  However it does not look like we will get any refunds for the pet portals that we have already purchased which previously increased the total number of pets allowed, first up to 1500 and then to 2000, and those cost 1000 pet charms each.  Come on Blizzard a refund would be nice and would help towards the 10,000 needed for the new pet, come on...please!

Good luck if you are also going for this and I will keep you updated with how I am getting on.  Happy pet charm collecting.

Blizzcon Celebration Selection

With BlizzConline coming up later in February, and to commemorate 30 years of Blizzard games, Blizzard have launched a new celebration collection bundle which you can purchase from the Blizzard Shop.  There are three levels of the collection called, essentials, heroic and epic, with additional items included for the higher priced bundles. The bundles include mostly cosmetic items for many Blizzard games, including Overwatch (loot boxes), Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft II and Starcraft Remastered, Hearthstone (card packs), Diablo III and World of Warcraft.  Although I own all these games I only really play World of Warcraft regularly so I personally am only really interested in the loot for World of Warcraft.

For World of Warcraft if you purchase the essentials celebration collection bundle you will get the Moon-Touched Netherwhelp Pet. This is a cute white/blue dragonkin battle pet.
When I first got this, the in game notification said:
Blackandblue has earned the achievement !
and nothing appeared in the achievement log however I got the achievement Netherwhelp Online the next day :)

With the heroic celebration collection bundle you get everything included in the essentials bundle and also the Snowstorm Mount.  This is a white polar bear.  He has bags on his back and when you do mount special he follows a star.

With the epic celebration bundle, the additional thing for World of Warcraft is 30 days of game time however, since the jump up in price from heroic bundle to epic bundle is more than 30 days game time costs and the other additional items were for games I don't really play, I didn't think it was worth it for me and therefore I purchased the heroic bundle.

I am looking forward to BlizzConline (February 19-20) hoping for some good announcements, see you there!

Nice Mount Day from Islands

As of patch 8.3 you can now purchase loot boxes for the Island Expeditions.  Each week Captain Kitt (for Horde), who is located near the Island Expedition table in the Port of Zandalar, has some boxes for sale for the cost of 50-175 Seafarer's Dubloons.  For Alliance the boxes are sold by Captain Nightrunner (66,32) in Boralus.

This lucky week the boxes available were:
Crestfall Salvage (175 Dubloons)
Jorundall Salvage (175 Dubloons)
Verdant Wilds Salvage (120 Dubloons)

I had some Dublooms saved up so I bought a few boxes.  The boxes can contain pets, mounts and transmog rewards which usually drop from the islands.  From my first box, Crestfall Salvage, I got four items Old Jon's Left Hand (Fist Weapon), Plundered Pirate Admiral's Bicorne (transmog), Leatherwing Screecher (pet) and 2x Island Flosam (rep tokens)

Old Jon's Left Hand
Leatherwing Screecher (pet) and Plundered Pirate Admiral's Bicorne (transmog)
From my second box, also Crestfall Salvage, I got three items, Squawks (mount), Azeroth's Tear (rep token) and Black Tooth Grunt's Pauldrons (transmog)
Squawks (mount) "Guess why he's called that?  It's not because he's a nice quiet pet."
From my third box, Verdant Wilds Salvage Box, I got three leather transmog items, Spiritbough Crown, Spiritbough Grasps and Feralbark Shoulders.

Also whilst running a few islands with my friends I got Surf Jelly.  Initially when I saw this drop I thought it was a pet and didn't really look at it until later when I checked my bags and realised it was a mount.  This is a mount that only works in water.  If you jump near the surface it will despawn which is a little annoying however, you can use it in Nazjatar.
Surf Jelly (mount) "The time between being stung and being enveloped and devoured is short enough to consider not swimming in the Great Sea."
Good luck if you open any boxes and good luck with island runs.  Mounts seem to be quite rare.  These were the only ones I have got from all my previous runs.

Raiding With Leashes VI finally

After several months and many runs I have finally got the achievement Raiding With Leashes VI: Pets of Pandaria
and the reward, the very cute battle pet, Happiness.
This achievement is the most recent of the raiding with leashes achievements and is from dungeons in Pandaria including Mogu'shan Vault, Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring.  I have run these dungeons multiple times and collected multiples of many of the other pets but one pet, Living Amber which drops from Amber-Shaper Un'sok in Heart of Fear, had eluded me until today.

The pets to collect for this achievement are:
   Terrace of Endless Spring
      Azure Windseeker (Tsulong)
Spirit of the Spring (Lei Shi)

   Mogu'shan Vault
      Stoneclaw (The Stone Guard)
      Wayward Spirit (Gara'jal the Spiritbinder)
      Comet (Elegon)
Mogu Statue (Will of the Emperor)

   Heart of Fear
      Kor'thik Swarmling (Imperial Vizier Zor'lok)
      Amberglow Stinger (Blade Lord Ta'yak)
      Spawn of Garalon (Garalon)
      Living Amber (Amber-Shaper Un'sok)
      Ravenous Prideling (Grand Empress Shek'zeer)

It's a nice collection and I look forward to Raiding with Leashes VII sometime in the future.  Good luck if you are collecting these pets which can also be caged and bought and sold in the Auction House if you want a quick completion.

Pirates' Day 2019

There was nothing new for Pirates' Day 2019 which was on 19th September.  However if you joined Dread Captain DeMeza in Booty Bay for a drink you could get a pirate costume which lasts for 12 hours.

There is a quest to complete, You're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat - Pull 33 Razor-Sharp Shark Teeth, which rewards 5x Emergency Pirate Outfits so you can be a pirate even when it is not pirates' day.  From Dread Captain DeMeza you can also purchase Petey, a bird which sits on your shoulder, for 10g and Big Bag of Booty, a huge bag of gold which will explode into smaller piles of gold that can be looted, for 300g.

There is a rare shark in the bay called Ol'Eary and killing him you have a chance to drop the toy Slightly-Chewed Insult Book - Shout a filthy pirate insult at everyone within earshot! that has a cooldown of 30 minutes.
"Yer ship has more holes than a sponge, ye slack-jawed cockroach!"

And why not visit the beach party for a drink and some jokes round the corner from Booty Bay.  The pirates there are having fun riding around on their Sea Ponies.  I think Blizzard should give us a Sea Pony as a toy next year that would be cool, I wanted to ride one :)

Blizzard did offer a special 50% discount for Pirates' Day in the shop for the Dreadwake mount, which I already had, and the battle pet Cap'n Crackers which I didn't so I got him for only £4.50.  He is a little green parrot sporting a pirate hat and he looks really cute.

Other pets that look good with your pirate transmog could be Captain Nibs or Barnaby both from island expeditions.

Happy Pirate Day.  Aaarrrrrrrrrrr!

First views of Nazjatar and Mechagon

A month has passed since the launch of patch 8.2 and the arrival of the new zones Nazjatar and Mechagon, and this is now where I spend most of my time.  Although if you are not a big raider it is worth doing the emissaries in Zandalar and Kul Tiras because the gear drops now have a base level of 415 which for me is an upgrade in some slots (ilevel of emissarys may be different based on your own ilevel I'm not sure).

In order to get flying you need to have completed the achievement Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part One and the new achievement Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part Two.  This includes exploring Nazjatar and Mechagon and becoming revered with the factions Rustbolt Resistance on Mechagon and in Nazjatar The Unshackled  (Horde) or Waveblade Ankoan (Alliance).
View of Rustbolt from the boat, The Greasy Eel
I really enjoyed Mechagon and found getting the reputation not to bad.  The zone is relatively small and easy to get around.  There are many daily quests and people are always shouting out for rares and construction projects.
In contrast I found Nazjatar frustrating.  The zone is beautiful but getting around it is difficult without flying with many levels, winding up, around and between tall rock formations and down into underground caves.  The quests are time consuming and until you know the zone hard to locate.  Particularly the very first quest I picked up Q - Requisition: We Need It All, where you need to, instead of collect 15 of something collect 1 of many things.  This has got easier as I learnt the area and got flight points but initially the dailies were so time consuming I decided to do Nazjatar and Mechagon on alternate days putting me a little behind everyone else.

First Pet Drops
Both zones have many rare spawns and these drop many vanity items including mounts, pets, toys and zone specific items, such as blueprints in Mechagon for Junkyard Tinkering.

First up Nazjatar.  Deep inside the Darkwater Cavern in the south of the zone is Blindlight (37:82) the Necrofin Chieftain.  He dropped the pet Necrofin Tadpole which is a humanoid pet and is really cute with a yellow fin and glowing green eyes.

Then to Mechagon.  Bonepicker (65:23) is a rare that can be found in a cave, Sourback Hideout near the Heaps.

He drops the pet Bonebiter which is an dragonkin pet and is also really cute.  Many of the new battle pet models look really nice.  I discovered quite by accident that there are at least two colours for Bonebiter.  The first one I got was orange but after killing him a few more times I also dropped another and this time he was yellow.

This made me think there may be multiple colours of other pet drops too, let me know in the comments if you come across any and also what were your thoughts of Mechagon and Nazjatar initially and if your views have changed now its a few weeks on.  Happy pet hunting.

Watching Hazel really is Lucky

I was watching HazelNuttyGames mount run stream live on Monday and many people on the chat have said its lucky and they have got some lucky drops while watching so I thought I would give it a try.

One of the pets I am missing from Raiding with Leashes VI: Pets of Pandaria, is Comet, from Mogu'shan Vaults despite quite a few runs and of course, I still need the mount from Elegon, Astral Cloud Serpent.  So this was my raid of choice.

I started the run and after beating the first two bosses arrived at Gara'jal the Spiritbinder.  He dropped the first pet, Wayward Spirit which I already had two of but, who turns away pets? :)
Moving on I got past The Spirit Kings with no trouble and then on to Elegon, which after the long wait for Lorewalker Cho to catch up, I defeated, and was really pleased to drop the Celestial Gift, and Comet was mine, but unfortunately no mount!
On to the final boss.  On starting the encounter, which on heroic difficulty starts when you break the pipes inside the arena, I defeated Will of the Emperor and the final pet Mogu Statue, Baoh-Xi also dropped.  All three pets in 1 run is pretty cool.
On top of this I also got the achievement Sha of Fabulous - Collect any class armor set from the Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring.  I am not sure what dropped to give me this as this achievement is for gear collected in Endless Spring and Heart of Fear and the only new piece of transmog I got were these sweet shoulders that do not appear to be part of any set but look nice.
Spaulders of the Emperor's Rage
So overall a successful and lucky run.  All three pets on a single run that is quite nice.  Thank you Hazel and good luck to everyone else in the RNG drop rates. One pet to go and Raiding With Leashes VI is mine.

BfA Pets: Rebuilt Mechanical Spider

The Rebuilt Mechanical Spider is one of two mechanical pets that you can get from Vol'dun during the Faction Assault.  In Vol'dun there is a bridge (41:42) where two large robots, a mechanical spider for the Alliance and a mechanical gorilla for the Horde, battle against each other every few minutes.
If your factions robot wins this battle you will be able to loot a part from the corpse of the defeated robot which, when all are collected, can be made into the pets.

For the Horde you can make the Rebuilt Mechanical Spider, a small version of the Alliance Spider, Arachni.  The parts need to be looted from three separate Faction Assaults and as these are on a rotation it should take almost three weeks to get all three parts.  For the Horde the parts you can loot are Handful of Glass Spider Eyes, Steel-Plated Arachnid Exoskeleton and Mecha-Spinneret.  You can increase the chance of your robot winning the battle by collecting and handing in Alkalescent Salt, dropped from the Saltspine Krolusks and Krolusk Hatchlings by the bridge, and handing them into Blixthraz for Horde and Binny for Alliance.  This will not guarantee the win but can help.  There is a World Quest to collect this salt, Q - Battle Bots - Requirements: Alkalescent Salt x10, Give Salts to Blixthraz/Binny, but this does not have to be up for you to loot the pet parts.

Once you have collected all three parts you can combine them to make the pet.
As the spider parts and therefore the spider pet can only be looted and created by Horde players, this pet can be caged and therefore if you only have an Alliance character you should be able to buy these from the auction house.  Currently on my server they are between 10-20k gold.
Coming soon (BfA Pets: Rebuilt Mechanical Gorilla)

With patch 8.1.5 comes a new pet collecting achievement Raiding With Leashes VI: Pets of Pandaria. There are 11 new pets to collect from raids in Pandaria, Mogu'shan Vaults, Terrace of Endless Spring and Heart of Fear.  Collecting all of them will reward the battle pet Happiness.

Ravenous Prideling (Grand Empress Shek'zeer - Heart of Fear)
Good luck if you are going for these pets.

Uuna's Story: Part #2 - A New Friend

After looting Uuna's Doll from the Many Faced Devourer, I was able to summon Uuna as a non combat battle pet, and can now follow her journey.
A New Friend: If you summon Uuna the ghost of Uuna will follow you around and  after a few minutes she will speak.
Uuna " Can anybody hear me?"

You need to communicate with her.  First /whistle to get her attention. (you whistle at Uuna)
Uuna "Hello?  Who's there?  I heard you, Who are you?  Can you help me?  It's so dark!  I can't see a thing!"

Next /roar at her. (You roar with beastial vigor at Uuna. So fierce!)
Uuna "Ack!  A monster!  Help!  Help!"
Unfortunately she gets scared and runs away (she will despawn so make sure to summon her back).

Next do /cry and she will also begin to cry. (You cry on Uuna's shoulder)
Uuna "Are you sad too?  Are you lost like me?  At least we're together now.  We just... don't know where we are.  But you're my friend, and I know it's gonna be okay.  I wish I could see better.  It's always so dark here!"

Now for a road trip.
Bright Lights: Take Uuna to Shattrath to see A'dal.  When she sees the bright light she will walk towards it.
Uuna "What's that?  A light in the darkness!  It's so bright... It's too bright!  Too bright!  Owww!"

But when she realises the light is too bright she runs away again (and despawns summon her back).

Wanna Be Friends: Bring Uuna to the moonlight at Lake Falathim in Ashenvale.  For horde take the flightpath from Orgrimmar to Hellscream's Watch and fly west.  Lake Falathim (18:41) is between Maestra's Post and Zoram'gar Outpost.  Uuna runs up to the stones.  The moonlight helps her to see.
Uuna "It's gotten a little brighter!  I can see... sorta, Oh, Hi!  Who are you?  I'm Uuna, wanna be friends?  Maybe together we can get outta this place.  I wish Nuu were here.  He'd know what to do."

Finding Nuu: Go on a mission to hunt for Nuu.  Nuu can be found on a floating island in Mac'Aree, Argus.  Take the portal in the Dalaran (Legion) flight area and once on the Vindicaar fly to Shadowguard Incursion and then go slightly south to The Twisting Nether (24:58).  Off the edge of the island you will see two small floating islands one quite close and one further away.
Using the goblin glider float to the first one and after waiting for the cooldown on your glider to reset, from the highest point glide over to the further away island.
Enter the house on the island and there you will find Nuu.  Nuu is a little blue bear which Uuna will carry from now on.
Uuna "Nuu-Nuu!  I was scared I'd never see you again!  How did you get here?  Nuu is here to help us, friend.  I knew you'd find us, Nuu!  I'll hold onto him so he doesn't get lost again."

Shooting Stars: Next stop on the road trip is Bloodmyst Isle.  For Horde this is quite tricky to get to.  First go to Darkshore and speak to Zidormi to revert to pre BfA then fly across the sea to Ruttheran Village in Teldrassil.  The dock on the far left as you fly in from the sea has a portal to Exodar, take it and then run through Azuremyst Isle and across the bridge to Bloodmyst Isle and on to Blood Watch.  Take her to the table near the house furthest right on the map which is just down the path from the flightmaster (56:56).  She will pick up a wand and carry it from now on in her right hand.
Uuna "I used to have a wand like that!  Lost it a long time ago.  It shoots stars! Bad guys really hate that."

Flower Crown: Next take Uuna to Shadowmoon Valley (Draenor).  Use the Garrison hearthstone and then fly to a little camp in Shadowmoon Valley (56:41).  Here Uuna will pick up a flower crown from a chair next to the fire.
Uuna "A Crown!  So pretty!  You can't fight the dark without a crown, friend.  It's the rules.  I feel a lot better now."

Uuna Gets Kidnapped: Suddenly void tendrils come up out of the ground and surround Uuna.
Uuna " It's dark again!  Where did you go?  Don't leave me!  No!  Let me go!  Help, friend!  HELP!"
Uuna disappears and when you try to resummon her it just says Uuna is missing!

Getting Marked: To rescue Uuna, first you need to speak to a spirit healer and to do that you need to die.  In order to die I removed my armor, flew up into the air and fell.
Talk to the Spirit Healer and ask about Uuna.
"I'm looking for a little girl named Uuna, have you seen her?"
Spirit Healer "I have heard the cries of the child you speak of.  I shall mark you, that you may pass into this realm and seek her out.  She resides in a place where the barrier between the realms of life and death are thin, and spill over into your world.  Be warned, you have no power in this place, its denizens cannot be harmed by mortals.  Try as you might, you may not be able to aid your friend."

Shadow of a Tear:
Next go to the Emerald Dragonshrine which is south east of Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight, Northrend.  In the eye of the skull east most in the shrine you will find the Shadow Tear, click on it to start the scenario to save Uuna.

Scenario
The scenario will enter you into A Dark Place.  In the distance you can see Uuna.  Walk towards her.  She is feeling alone and crying, /cheer at her. (You cheer at Uuna)
Uuna "Friend?  Is that you?  I won't give up, friend!  I promise!  I'm just so cold, and it's very dark here.  I don't know what to do!
Uuna is cold, put down a campfire next to her.
Uuna "There you are!  That's much better.  They're gonna be here, soon, friend.  I keep running and running... but they always find me.  But now you're here.  Together we can fight them!  I think... Promise you won't leave me, friend.  Even when it gets dark... They're here..."
Uuna "GO AWAY!  WE'RE NOT AFRAID OF YOU!"
Soul-Eaters appear and start to move towards Uuna.  Run into them to knock them back a bit but they keep on coming more and more getting closer and closer to her.  After a while they almost begin to overwhelm her.
Uuna "Friend?  Are you still there?  I'm scared!  I--I can't do it!  I just wanna go home!"  Uuna wraps her arms around herself and begins to cry.
Give Uuna a hug /hug. (You hug Uuna)
Uuna "F-friend, you're here!  You didn't leave me!  Mama told me the Light would always find me.  That's you, friend.  You're my light!  And as long as my light is with me, there's no way the darkness can win!  My light is super strong!"
Uuna "I'M NOT GONNA BE AFRAID ANYMORE!"

Uuna "The darkness is gone!  I can see!  Oh, friend!  We did it!  We beat them!  What... what's happening?  The light... it's telling me to follow it... Mama! Papa!  They're waiting for me!  Wait a sec... There's so much I never got to do.  So many places I never got to see... Is it okay if I stay with my friend?  For just a little while longer?  Friend!  The light says I can stay!  Woo-hoo!  Tell Mama and Papa I miss them, and... and I'll see them soon!  Okay, friend, lets get outta here!  We have so many places to go!
Uuna gives you a hug.

Uuna is now your non combat companion complete with Nuu, her sparkly wand and flower crown but there is more.  Uuna wants to see the world, there are so many things she never got to do and so many places she never got to go, so it is time for road trip part 2.

To be continued... (Uuna's Story: Part #3)
